§ 4. [Oath of office for board of commissioners.]

  • (a)

    The chairperson and each member of said board, before entering upon the discharge of his or her duties as such, shall take and subscribe before the judge of the Probate Court of Gilmer County the following oath, to wit:

    "I do hereby solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge the duties of commissioner of Gilmer County, Georgia, that I will account for all funds and property of said county coming into my possession, and that I will uphold to the best of my ability the ordinances and resolutions of Gilmer County, Georgia, and the laws and Constitutions of the State of Georgia and the United States of America, so help me God."

    (b)

    Such commissioners shall, before entering upon the duties of their office, give a bond in the sum of $10,000.00 each, to be approved by the judge of the probate court, and payable to the judge of the probate court and his or her successors in office, conditioned upon the faithful discharge of their duties and to account for all funds and property of said county coming into their possession. The surety on said bonds shall be a corporate surety company authorized to do business in this state, and the premiums therefor shall be paid from county funds.
