The public institutional (PI) zoning district is established to ensure that the public,
quasi-public, and institutional use of property is related to the purposes and policies
of the general plan and the public/quasi-public land use classification contained
in the general plan; to recognize the public, quasi-public, and institutional nature
of particular parcels of land and provide standards and guidelines for their continued
use and future development; and to ensure that the public, quasi-public, and institutional
structures and developments in the district will be compatible with surrounding districts
and uses.
The requirements of the PI zoning district are intended to apply to publicly owned
property, property owned by quasi-public or public service entities, and property
used or planned to be used for certain institutional facilities
